Earth's Cosmic Necklace Everyone who moves to Alaska anticipates their first sighting of the Aurora Borealis, or the Northern Lights as they are commonly referred to. And this year will be the beginning of a five year cycle of exceptional displays of this incredible cosmic event. Alaskans never tire of viewing this phenomena and its one of the blessings of our long dark nights with clear skies. But this unique perspective which was shot from one of the space shuttle missions captures an essence few human beings have every witnessed. Thanks to the good folks at JPL and NASA, we all can marvel at what our celestial rainbow looks like from a different perspective. Photo Courtesy: NASA & JPL
