Signs of Autumn
Silver salmon and fireweed blossoms go hand in hand. Both signify the waning of
summer and the beginning of Fall on the Last Frontier. Coho begin arriving in Alaska's
coastal streams around the end of July and some runs extend far into winter and provide a
valuable source of food for Alaska's many bald eagles. They also are a favored delicacy on
most Alaskans' dinner tables at some time during the year. This composition was
