Our Photo of the Day will change whenever we have something new to post. As fishing season gets under way, no doubt there will be a few nice catches here.
Reflections of Alaska
Rick Ham took this photo of a mother brown bear and her twin
year old cubs snooping around the water's edge of the lake at
Wolverine Creek. Every year the sockeye run up the creek attracts
anglers and bears alike, both seeking a meal from the abundant run
of fish returning each year. Wolverine is a fly-out trip, about 30 minutes
from Soldotna on the west side of Cook Inlet. Those anglers who may
indulge in this adventure should read our Tips When Entering Bear Country
to be prepared for any situation when fishing around bears. Each year
there are close calls, and on Rick's trip, one angler did find himself
Face-to-Face with this sow during a bluff charge to protect her cubs.
