Homemade KAHLUA

Here is my best recipe for Kahlua. I've been making this for years.

  • Boil for 20 minutes: 1 lb. Yuban coffee and 1-1/2 qts. water.

  • Cool and strain thru cheesecloth.(Talk about espresso!!!)

  • Add 7 cups sugar and 2-1/2 qts water. Bring to boil, then cover and simmer for 2 hours or so. Cool.

  • Add 2 oz PURE vanilla

  • Add one 5th Everclear (190 proof alcohol).

Ready to drink at this point but really needs time to mellow and age to be perfect. I let mine go for about 8 weeks after bottling. This makes about five and one half 5ths for the cost of 1 bottle of Kahlua in the liqour store. Such a bargain!

Keyword Phrases: Homemade kahlua is a favorite as an after dinner drink or an evening dessert treat.
You can't hardly tell the difference between this recipe and the original Kahlua that costs much more.
