Tip #31 Surefire Fire!

The first of these tips was contributed by John Wynne in Anchorage and the second from Brad Hanson in Palmer. Both are very handy and could save your life!

A good waterproof fire starter can be made from saturating cotton balls with vaseline. Stuff as many as you can in an empty 35mm film cannister. They are quick to light and burn with a hot flame.

Another surefire fire starter is strips of old tire inner tube. They too are waterproof and once lit will burn with a very hot intensity. Easy to pack and lasts forever.

Thanks guys for the tips.
