HOPE on the Kenai Peninsula

Picturesque Hope

Many of the original cabins and buildings still exist and provide a great opportunity to photograph some of Alaska's gold rush history much as it was during its hayday. And if you are an artist, its an ideal setting for recreating a scene from the past.

Gold rush buildings still charm downtown Hope. The white and green store has been serving customers since 1896. The log Social Hall, built in 1902, still hosts community meetings, dances, and weddings.

Camping with a view in Porcupine Campground along Turnagain Arm.
You can put Hope on your travel itinerary as a day trip adventure or make an extended stay of it in scenic Porcupine or Cour D'Alene Campgrounds.

The 4.5 mile Gull Rock Trail hugs the cliffs along Turnagain Arm.

The 38.6 mile long Resurrection Pass Trail extends from Hope to Cooper Landing and is a popular adventure for summer hikers or wintertime cross-country skiers. Several Forest Service cabins are located along the trail system and are available by reservation through the Forest Service. You can even hire a dog sled in winter for the ultimate experience!
