Wildlife Viewing and Photo Locations on the Kenai Peninsula

Kodak Film

Having lived on the Kenai Peninsula for 43 years as an avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman and wildlife photographer, I have acquired many favorite spots which provide a good chance of viewing and photographing animals in nature. Some locations are seasonal since animal and sealife patterns change during the year according to their food sources and reproductive cycles. But a nature lover can be assured of spotting most of those on the list without a lot of intensive effort.

For those who are short on time and may not have the opportunity to track down all the wildlife on this listing there are alternatives. The Kenai National Wildlife Headquarters at the top of Ski Hill just outside of Soldotna has a very nice display of wildlife found on the Peninsula. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife group provide daily wildlife movies here as well as the K-12 oriented wildlife display which includes interactive features for listening to narrations about the animals and hearing the sounds they make. The Soldotna Visitor Center at the Kenai River Bridge can direct you to the headquarters. Its a great stop for the kids.

We provide each of these animals with their own page since new locations may be discovered and added. This also provides a convenient way of presenting individual maps specific to that species when it will help identify locations.
